A delegation from the US Embassy in Dhaka met with Anwar Hossain, Administrator of BGMEA, along with members of the BGMEA Support Committee at the BGMEA office in Uttara, Dhaka yesterday.

The meeting centered around key issues of bilateral trade, including US tariffs on Bangladesh, workers’ rights and wellbeing, and market access.
US Embassy representatives included John Fay, Senior Commercial Counsellor, U.S. Department of Commerce; and Sarah Gilleski, Agricultural Attaché, U.S. Department of Agriculture.
BGMEA Administrator Anwar Hossain briefed the delegation on the strides made by Bangladesh’s RMG industry, especially in areas of workplace safety and sustainability.
He thanked the US government of for pausing tariff impositions on Bangladesh.
He said BGMEA is working with the government of Bangladesh on ways to enhance bilateral trade and narrowing trade gap between Bangladesh and the USA, expressing optimism about mutual benefits.
