Denim Processing Plant Ltd achieves ‘LEED Gold” Certificate by USGBC

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh-based sustainable readymade garments manufacturer and exporter, Denim Processing Plant Ltd (DPPL) is recognized as ‘LEED Gold’ rated green factory with 69 scores by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

On behalf of USGBC (US Green Building Council), Ananta Ahmed, Managing Director of 360 TSL,(LEED AP BD + C, LEED AP EB O + M & LEED AP ID, LEED AP HOMES, LEED AP ND  ), USGBC faculty officially handed over the Green Building “LEED Gold Certificate to  Md. Zahangir Alam, CEO, Design & Source Ltd on 5 March at D&S head office in the capital. Ayesha Akter Managing Director, Denim Processing Plant Ltd and directors, and staffs were present at the certification handover ceremony.

I am very thankful to USGBC, 360 Total Solution Ltd and my team for this remarkable achievement said, Md. Zahangir Alam, CEO, Design & Source Ltd. Green is part of sustainability, especially for our upcoming generation’s livelihood. As a social responsibility we are doing many sustainable practices added  Zahangir Alam. We have a plan to make my all-sister concern factories will be LEED certified said, Zahangir Alam

Ayesha Akter Managing Director, of Denim Processing Plant Ltd, said, I think Green is not accosted its saving and by these green initiatives, DPPL adopted energy, water, and material savings.  The Bangladesh government has tried to support green clothing makers. Our global buyers should pay the right price for green initiatives. Besides, we need to attach a green tag with our garments for branding Bangladesh.

DPPL is now USGBC (LEED) Gold-certified Green Factory – adding to its long list of sustainability practices DPPL achieved this Gold certificate with 69 LEED points:leed-dppl Ananta Ahmed, Managing Director of 360 TSL,(LEED AP BD + C, LEED AP EB O + M & LEED AP ID, LEED AP HOMES, LEED AP ND  ), USGBC faculty said, It’s a great achieving for DPPL under the guidance and support by  Zahangir Alam, CEO, Design & Source Ltd and their team.

The award celebration was covered by Textile Focus – one of the leading textile industry development firms and media. According to the BGMEA, Bangladesh has now 157 LEED-certified green factories and more than 500 garment factories are waiting for the LEED certification from the USGBC.
