Department of Textile Engineering, WUB developed “Portable Eco-Tex Toilet”

80205170_1404487963046183_6459792235234852864_nDepartment of Textile Engineering, World University Bangladesh recently presented their recent development “Portable Eco-Tex Toilet” at a day long international technical seminar and town hall discussion on Textile Testing and Processing for quality improvement held in Dhaka. Different distinguished personalities in textile testing arenas of home and abroad, faculty members and students of different public and private universities participated in this mega technical event. Prof. Md. Abul Kashem, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Textiles adorned the chair of the chief guest. All the guests emphasized on the adaptation of the latest technology in the textile and garments arena. Apart from this, they pinpointed some of the major challenges for turning our garments sector in turmoil; however all the speakers were hopeful enough to bolster our capabilities with the integration of sustainability and industrial 4.0 revolution. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, chairman, Department of Textile Engineering, World University of Bangladesh along with all the faculty members and more than forty students participated spontaneously in the program. Three students i.e Md. Sakibul Islam, Md. Sabbir Hossain, S.M. Ekramul Islam of the final year presented their latest project work on ‘Portable Eco-Tex Toilet’ which was a conglomeration of sustainability and cost effectiveness as well as portable light-weight supervised by Malaz Rahman Khan, lecturer, Department of Textile Engineering on the project showcasing segment. The participants were enthusiastic enough to learn details of the innovation as it was made from ‘Sonali Bag’ (bag made from jute which is alternative to polyethylene bags) in its integral part. Dr. Mubarak Ahmad Khan, Chief Scientific Advisor, Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation was involved in this project and expressed his interest for further development and commercialization of it.
