Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) has announced the election of Dewan Saiful Alam as the new Chairman of its Asia-Africa-Middle East Committee. Alam takes over the leadership from Jonathan Lamport, who has completed his third term as chairman.

The election took place during a lively committee meeting, which featured a debriefing on the Chamber’s recent mission to Bahrain and the UAE. Jonathan Lamport provided insights into the mission, highlighting the significant opportunities and challenges in these rapidly growing Gulf economies.

Delegates who participated in the trip also shared their observations and recommendations for fostering business development in Bahrain and the UAE.

Dewan Saiful Alam brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the committee. With his extensive background in international business and deep understanding of the Asia-Africa-Middle East region, Alam is well-positioned to lead the committee in its mission to enhance trade and investment opportunities for Hong Kong businesses.

The meeting also saw the re-election of Yolane J. as Vice Chairman, ensuring continuity in the committee’s leadership. Additionally, Kelvin CK Liu and Zaman Minhas Qamar were newly elected as Vice Chairmen, bringing new energy and ideas to the team.

The HKGCC’s Asia-Africa-Middle East Committee plays a crucial role in promoting trade and business ties between Hong Kong and these diverse and dynamic regions. Under Dewan Saiful Alam’s leadership, the committee is expected to continue its efforts to strengthen these connections and support the Chamber’s members in exploring new markets and opportunities.
