Dhaka Apparel Summit held with optimism about sustainable apparel industry

cover-photoThe second edition of Dhaka Apparel Summit was held with much enthusiasm and spontaneous participation of speakers and audience from home and abroad.
Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Summit at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka on 25 February. Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque (Chunnu), the BGMEA Vice Presidents, Board of Directors, and former BGMEA Presidents also attended the opening ceremony.
BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman presided over the inaugural ceremony which was packed with participants, including diplomats, government high-ups, academics, industrialists, business leaders, journalists, students and other professions.

02The 3 sessions accommodated 32 speakers, making it really a long yet precious panel. Among the speakers were Hon. Commerce Minister of Bangladesh Hon. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Government, Regional Chief Economist of World Bank, Professor of Oxford University, San Francisco State University,Senior fellow of Adam Smith Institute, CEO of Danish Fashion & Textiles.

The Networking Dinner on the Eve of Dhaka Apparel Summit set the tone for fruitful idea sharing amongst the various dignitaries.
03The networking dinner organized on the eve of the Dhaka Apparel Summit 2017 received a significant presence of dignitaries including Ministers, Secretaries, Diplomats, Speakers and Contributors to the Summit, Entrepreneurs, Business leaders, Brands, Workers’ representatives and many more. The dinner set the tone of the following big day as the distinguished guests were seen mingling and discussing.

05The Painstaking planning and attention to detail in Branding the Dhaka Apparel Summit 2017 set it apart as a thoughtful event.
The Venue of the Summit was Branded with sustainable materials like fabric as canvas, bamboo to make frames of the picture boards to bring a semblence to our sustainable journey. Every effort was made in the event branding to drive the perception of the participants toward a positive, progressive Bangladesh. A meticulous attention to detail with an aim to tell a story that this industry has come a long way. It was possible only because of collaboration among stakeholders and tireless efforts of people working behind the scenes.
