The Department of Textile Engineering at Daffodil International University recently organized the International Summit on Textile Innovation and Sustainability (ISTIS 1). The program commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from the Guest of Honor, Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro-VC of Daffodil International University. Subsequently, an online speech was conducted by Sadhan Roy from the Textile Department of Calcutta University, accompanied by an enlightening slide presentation.

Dr. Taufiq Alam, a Professor from the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Rajshahi, presented innovative and environmentally friendly bio-scouring and bleaching processes. Mr. Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury, Head (in charge) of the Department of Textile Engineering, introduced the department to the attendees.
Special guests Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir from Daffodil International University and Engr. Selim Reza, Managing Director of Arien Knit Composite Ltd., provided motivational speeches. Engr. Shafiqur Rahman, Managing Director of HAMS Group Ltd., delivered a Chief Guest speech, which was followed by a refreshing tea break.
The post-tea break session focused on Innovation Talks, featuring speakers like Mr. Murat Sahinli showcasing recent innovative machinery from Pluvia and Dr. Shekh Mamun Kabir presenting his insights. The session continued with Engr. Zomir Uddin Milon and Engr. Zahedul Huque before a lunch break.
After lunch, a Technical Talk hosted by Mr. Asit Ghosh, Assistant Professor of the Department of Textile Engineering, covered panel discussions with Engr. Md. Sakhawat Hossain Rizvi, Engr. Shamim Bhuiyan, and Mr. Zamael Ullah. Mr. Axel Muelle, Technical Director of Ban Tech Chemical, shared his expertise, and Dr. Md. Mahbubul Haque presented his research linking students and industry.
A speech by the Chief Guest of the session, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University, concluded the academic program. The event closed with an award ceremony and a group picture taken to commemorate the occasion. Each guest received a Crest and wore a neck cloth manufactured at the DIU Textile Lab.
