DU Apparel Foundation officially starts its Journey

Desk Report:  Dhaka University of  Apparel Foundation is an organization of current and former students. Those who are directly involved in the export-oriented garments industry. The organization started its journey in 2016 through a Facebook group. 

It officially started on June 17, 2022, when Zaki Hossain Khan (Director, Snowtex Group) has been appointed as the convener and Arif Ahmed (CEO, Zippers Labels and Accessories) has been appointed as the Member Secretary.

The main objective of this organization is to facilitate cooperation and support among its members and to build a strong network of alumni and current students of DU mainly involved in the garment industry. DUAF seeks to bring about positive change in the garment industry of Bangladesh through its various efforts. 

On  June 17, the “Dhaka University Apparel Foundation” officially started its journey by organizing a seminar at the Rafiqul Islam Khan Auditorium, Department of Geography and Environment, Dhaka University on the possibilities and challenges of Bangladesh’s garment and textile industry in the next 10 years. About 150  alumni working in apparel and textiles take part in this official journey.

Guests at the seminar were Md. Moniruzzaman, Country Manager PDS Fareast, and Md. Arif Razzak, Country Manager, Kiabi  International Supply Services Limited. Zaki Hasan Khan and Mohiuddin Alamgir Robin were the special speakers. Matiur Rahman (Head of Operations, Sara Lifestyle, AKM Shoaib (CEO, New Star High Loon), Amit K Biswas (Head of Operations, Chaity  Group), Nazmul Huda Sumon (Stuart Peters)  spoke at the event.

The Apparel Foundation also has a five-member advisory committee. The other members of the committee are Joint Convener – Abdullah Al Mamun Tuhin (H&M) Organizing Secretary – Mostafizur Rahman (HM) 3. Office Secretary – Abu Nowshad (Li&Fung ) 4. Entertainment Secretary – Mueed Adnan (Square Textile) 5. Finance Secretary – Hafizur Rahman (Lifelong Group) Publicity Secretary – Farhad Uddin (Independent Group) and 10 Executive Members.
