DUET TE department organized Fresher’s reception and farewell 2017

duet_deitedA day long fresher’s reception & farewell celebration program of the students of Textile Engineering Department of Dhaka University of Engineering Technology (DUET) recently held in the university campus. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zoynal Abedin Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering-DUET & Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Shahid Head, Department of Textile-DUET started the event by tree plantation.

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Alauddin, Vice-Chancellor, DUET was present as chief guest of the main event of freshers’ reception and farewell. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zoynal Abedin, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asaduzzaman Chowdhury Register (Additional in Charge); Prof. Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Director of Student’s Welfare; Engr. Md. Mozaffar Hossain President, Bangabandhu Textile Engineer’s Association (BBTEA); Engr. Shamim Rahman, Vice President, The Institution of Textile Engineers & Technologists (ITET); Mr. Shafy Safeyee Country Manager, Bangladesh, Pakistan & Sri Lanka, GROUPE CARREFOUR were also present as a special guest.

Head, Department of Textile Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Shahid mentioned that there is no alternative of quality textile education to develop textile industry of Bangladesh. “I believe the students of DUET already achieved their reputation in the textile industry.” he added and also hoped that the students will brighten this university in their working life and also be able to face the challenge of twenty first century.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof. Dr. Mohammed Alauddin delivered a directive speech to the students. In his speech he congratulated all the teachers, students for successfully completing the B. Sc in Textile Engineering program. He said, “A university is a centre for research.” In his speech he mentioned that now-a-days the world become smaller and smaller day by day with help of information technology. He hoped the students of this program will be able to take the challenges of globalization and also be able to be a global citizen by using their knowledge which they have learnt from this program.

The students also enjoyed a colorful cultural program on the campus. It was a day of thrill and great fiesta to everyone especially for the outgoing & incoming students. Successful entrepreneurs of DUET textile engineering alumni Engr.  Shohel Rana, Director, Denim Solutions Ltd.; Engr. Tushar Kumar Paul, Director, Center for Professional Development (CPDSKILL), Engr. Md. Palash CEO, Power Play Communications were the Special Guest of the cultural event. Prof. Dr. Md Abdus Shahid, Head of Textile Engineering Department, DUET presided over the cultural event. Students and faculty members enjoyed the whole day event. Renowned textile magazine “Textile Focus’ was the media partner of the event.
