The Department of Textile Engineering of Southeast University, Tejgaon, Dhaka, organized an innovative academic exhibition titled โEco Garments for New Buyerโ on January 22, 2026, from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm at the Ground Floor (Old Building) of the university campus.

The event showcased ten products (five pairs) developed by students from 50 batches of the regular program as part of their final product submission under the course Apparel EngineeringโIV Lab. The central theme of the exhibition was recycling waste materials to create trendy, market-oriented garments for new buyers, reflecting the growing importance of sustainability in the global apparel and textile industry.
A diverse range of discarded materialsโincluding waste denim, silk, plain fabrics, pant shirts, jute, fish screen, polyethylene, and other textile and non-textile wastesโwere creatively transformed into innovative motifs and finished garments.
The exhibition demonstrated how engineering knowledge, design creativity, and environmental responsibility can be effectively combined in academic practice.
The course was conducted and supervised by Md. Eanamul Haque Nizam, Assistant Professor, Department of Textile Engineering, whose guidance ensured the successful integration of sustainable apparel engineering concepts into the studentsโ projects.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Engr. Mashud Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Textile Engineering, while Prof. Dr. Engr. A. N. M. Ahmudullah attended as the special guest. Both dignitaries highly appreciated the students and the course supervisor for organizing such a unique, innovative, and sustainability-focused event, emphasizing its relevance to contemporary textile education and industry demands.
