Engr Shamim Rahman elected as Central Council member of IEB

Desk Report: Engr. Shamim Rahman,Director of South West Composite Ltd elected as a Central Council member from Dhaka Centre of The Institution of Engineers Bangladesh for 2023-24 session. He was elected from Sabur-Manju panels and the election were held on 9 February at IEB center in the capital.

I am grateful to all of you for your support doa and vote. It was bit tough election as there was 145 candidate for central council member with high profile .Finally I am proud to be a member of Textile family . I will be try my best to be with you said, Engr. Shamim Rahman.

Engr. Shamim Rahman is the Chairman of Silken Fabrics Ltd, Managing Director of Southwest knitting Ltd ,Director Southwest composite Ltd ,Fellow member of IEB, Join Secretary BBTEA and Vice President of ITET.

The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), the oldest professional organization of the country. According to the information of Engineer Mohammad Azizul Islam, chairman of IEB selection committee, a total of 3 candidates were fighting for the post of President. The candidates were: Bangladesh Awami League’s science and technology affairs secretary Engineer Md Abdus Sabur, former vice chancellor of BUET Engineer Dr Prof SM Nazrul Islam and Engineer Mohammad Ali.

A total of 17,601 voters of 18 centres, 33 sub-centres, 13 international branches of IEB across the country were cast their votes at the IEB central office from 9am to 5pm.
