Textile Industry is the main foreign remittance earning sector for Bangladesh. This industry suffered a lot during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now the industry is trying to recover the gaps. Recently Textile Focus Conversation with Saira Mansur, Vice Chairman of German Bangla Chemicals regarding observation of 2021 and expectations for the year 2022.
Textile Focus: How are you observing 2021 for your business?
Saira Mansur: Thank you for your kind consideration and interest in hearing my thoughts about my business. 2021 was a very interesting year for our business, German Bangla Chemical. Demand for our goods grew exponentially and the growth of our business was very satisfactory. On the other hand, we faced huge supply chain issues in the market and dealt with an ever-increasing price hike on raw material costs as well as transportation costs. Overall we are very happy with 2021!
Textile Focus: What is your expectation and planning for 2022?
Saira Mansur: We expect the demand for our products locally to further increase. Textile owners are starting to see the benefit of having a local chemical supplier instead of relying on imported products. This was maybe the only fortunate point for us coming out of corona crisis. Supply chain issues may persist and we plan ahead to tackle any kind of problem ahead of us.
