Exports of Turkish textile and raw materials decreased 5.5 per cent

The share of textile and raw material exports in total exports decreased from 5.9 per cent to 5.5 per cent. In 2019 28 EU countries were the largest export market for Turkish textile and raw material. Despite a decrease of 8.2%, textile exports to these markets accounted for 49.9%. Exports to the former Eastern Bloc have risen by 5.9%. The African countries were ranked third among the main export markets. These countries ‘ exports dropped by 1.7 per cent.

Woven fabrics were the most important textile and raw material export commodity category in 2019. Exports of woven fabrics, which accounted for 23.5 percent of exports of textiles and raw materials, were down 6.6 percent from the previous year. Exports of yarn drop by 6.1%. Home textiles make up 15.9 per cent of exports in the textile market. Exports from this category were up 1.8 per cent. Fiber share in overall textile exports fell from 13.7 per cent to 6.4 per cent. Exports of Denim textiles decreased by 11.5 per cent.
