Fakir Fashion Ltd. has turned its decarbonisation ambition into tangible industrial investments, earning recognition at the ESG Excellence Awards 2026 for its efforts in Carbon Emission Control.

Fakir Fashion Ltd. received the ‘’Jury’s Choice Award’’ among the leading initiatives in the Carbon Emission Control Category at the ESG Excellence Awards 2026, held on 5 September 2026 at La Vita Hall, Lakeshore Grand. The award recognizes the company’s continued efforts and investments towards reducing carbon emissions and advancing sustainable manufacturing.

Organized by UNGC Bangladesh and ESG Institute, the awards ceremony brought together representatives from industry, development organizations and other stakeholders working towards sustainable development in Bangladesh. The event was honored by the presence of Honorable Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Mr. Abdul Awal Mintoo, along with distinguished Ambassadors of the European Union, Denmark, Sweden, and Australia.

For Fakir Fashion, the recognition reflects a sustainability journey that extends beyond commitments and targets. The company has been steadily investing in technologies and infrastructure designed to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency and accelerate its transition towards lower-carbon manufacturing.

The recognition also reflects the continued commitment of Fakir Fashion’s leadership. The company attributes its sustainability progress to the visionary leadership of Managing Director, Mr. Fakir Kamruzzaman Nahid and Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Fakir Wahiduzzaman Riyead, whose consistent focus on green initiatives has positioned environmental responsibility at the center of Fakir Fashion’s growth strategy.

Among the key investments contributing to this journey are 4.5 MW of solar power capacity, a 1 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), a Flue Gas Capture & Utilisation Mechanism, a 350 TR Vapor Absorption Chiller, and 5.4 T Exhaust Gas Boilers.

‘’For Fakir Fashion, the direction remains clear: growth and environmental responsibility must move forward together. The company now aims to build on this recognition by going further, moving faster and contributing more meaningfully to the transition towards a net-zero future.’’

These investments form part of Fakir Fashion’s broader vision of integrating environmental responsibility into its manufacturing growth. Rather than viewing decarbonisation as a standalone sustainability initiative, the company is pursuing it as an integral part of its long-term business and operational strategy.

The company’s ambition, however, extends well beyond its current achievements. As part of its future decarbonisation roadmap, Fakir Fashion has planned to expand its solar capacity to 6.5 MW by 2030, alongside a 10-ton biomass boiler already operational &  Carbon offsetting Program (Fakir Sobuj Chaya) – 30,000 Trees planted by 2030.
