Faruque Hassan to lead Sammilita Parishad as president candidate for upcoming BGMEA election

Faruque Hassan, Managing Director of Giant Group has formally announced to lead Sammilita Parishad, a panel of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). The announcement was made at a view-exchange meeting held at Giant Business Tower, Dhaka.

122842235_806997966790048_4858201146463595569_nCommerce Minister Tipu Munshi, former BGMEA President Qutub Uddin, Mostafa Golam Quddus, Safiul Islam Mohiuddin, Abdus Salam Murshedy, among others Siddiqur Rahman, former President Atiqul Islam took part in it virtually. More than 300 BGMEA members attended in the meeting.

Faruque Hassan has previously served as the elected director, Vice-President and senior Vice-President for two terms of BGMEA.  He has also served as the President of the Dutch Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI) and Honourary consul general of Greece to Bangladesh. While talking about his reaction as president candidate Faruque Hassan mentioned, “I would like to give my heartfelt gratitude to every single person who took out their precious time in the midst of the pandemic to come out to support me and above all, Sammililto Parishad. It is the love for our industry and country that unites us! I believe together we will be able to take Bangladesh apparel industry towards prosperity and excellence. I truly feel blessed and privileged to have shared the stage with such accomplished individuals, who has shaped Bangladesh garment industry to be where it is today.”

BGMEA having around 4500 members, is being run by a 35 member board of directors, including seven vice-president.
