Fresher’s Reception at NITER highlighted the demand of transforming it as specialized Textile University

selectedThe Fresher’s Reception of the students of 10th batch of B.Sc Engineering program of National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER) held on 1st March, 2020 at NITER Campus. Mr. Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, M.P, Honorable Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education, GoB, graced the occasion as chief guest. Md. Mokbul Hossain, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Mr. Mohammad Ali Khokon, Chairman, Governing Body, NITER & President, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) were also present as special guests while Professor Dr. Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, Principal, NITER & Professor, Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. University of Dhaka presided over the program.
The whole program was organized in two distinct sessions. The first session started with national anthem and further proceeded with speeches from the honorable guests, awarding scholarship to highly meritorious students, inauguration program of three new departments named Computer Science Engineering (B.Sc), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (B.Sc), Textile and Apparel Value Chain(MBA) by the chief guest and another session contained cultural performances by the students of NITER.
As a Centre of Excellence of education in the area of textile and allied sector, NITER wants to reach the epitome of success as an education and research institute of Bangladesh. NITER is trying to fulfill the acute shortage of skilled engineers in the field of textile and allied sector. It also aims to introduce a high-tech and modern educational method in our local context. Through its educational and collaborative research activities, NITER has a mission to get established as a World-Class educational institute. To make this mission successful, NITER Authority & students asked for Government help and demanded to make NITER a specialized Textile University.
