For more than 30 years, under the leadership of his father, the family has been a key name in Bangladesh’s apparel export sector, operating globally through AZ Group. Now, Ekram — representing the new generation of Bangladeshi entrepreneurs — is expanding beyond textiles to the fast-growing Food & Beverage (F&B) industry.

“We’ve been exporting garments worldwide for three decades. Now I want to bring an international food experience home — something modern, youth-focused, and proudly global,” said Ekram Hossain, while announcing the launch of Happy Potato Bangladesh.

The Malaysian brand Happy Potato, known for its fun and innovative potato-based snacks like Cheesy Chicky Balls, Waffle Fries, Smiley Fries, Loopy Fries, Pop Chicken, and Jumbo Nuggets, will soon open in Bangladesh — introducing a whole new level of snack culture for local food lovers.

The first flagship outlet is currently under development in Gulshan 2, alongside two more outlets in Dhanmondi and one in Uttara. Construction and setup are in full swing, and the Gulshan branch is expected to open by December 2025.

As the Master Franchise Owner for Bangladesh, Ekram’s plan is gradually expanding Happy Potato to all over Dhaka then going nationwide to Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Comilla in the coming years.

“My father inspired me to dream beyond our traditional business. He built the foundation — now I’m adding a new dimension through the food industry. My goal is to make Happy Potato a household name in Bangladesh,” Ekram shared confidently.

With his extensive business experience, global vision, and passion for innovation, Ekram Hossain represents a new wave of Bangladeshi entrepreneurship — blending legacy, leadership, and lifestyle to redefine the modern dining experience in the country.
