G-STAR RAW has breached a new ground in the sustainable regenerative indigo dyeing process

img_4187In collaboration with the Italian Candiani Denim, the Dutch denim company G-STAR RAW has breached a new ground in sustainable materials. The Fall collection starts with the denim fabric made with the world’s first regenerative indigo dyeing process, which means that indigo waste is produced for the agricultural industry to act as a fertilizer.

The fabric offers performance for the consumer on the go, in addition to being circular. The fabric of Iken Superstretch O is made of 97 percent organic cotton and 3 percent ROICA EF, a certified global recycled stretch yarn intended to keep your jeans in shape after wear.

Airblaze, Lancet and D-Staq for men and Noxer & Kafey for women are the latest Denim textiles. G-Star Raw’s Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold Gold Stretch Jeans, which was launched earlier this year, is the starting point for indigo innovation. All items are made of organic cotton in combination with sustainable stretch fiber and use of renewable energy-powered processes and wastewater recycling network. The new C-Staq jeans for women and five models in new washes were included in this extended collection.

In the otherwise turbulent year, the sustainable additions are a high point. G-Star Raw used company-wide redundancies due to the financial effects of the international pandemic, as did many of its major competitors. After the Australian branch filed in July the U.S. retail arm filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Several of its US shops were also struck and robbed in the violence following George Floyd ‘s death earlier this summer. Nevertheless, the company continues to focus on the next phase of its environmental initiatives.
