German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Rüdiger Lotz paid a courtesy call on BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan at the BGMEA Complex in Dhaka. During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen and enhance bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Germany.
President Mahmud Hasan Khan shared an overview of Bangladesh’s RMG industry, outlining its key priorities to sustain market competitiveness — including preparing for due diligence compliance, product diversification with a focus on non-cotton garments, and decarbonization initiatives.
Acknowledging the significant progress made by the industry, Ambassador Dr. Lotz emphasized the importance of continuing environmental and social advancements. He also highlighted Bangladesh’s efforts to secure EU market access through GSP+ following its graduation to a middle-income country.
BGMEA Senior Vice President Inamul Khan – Bablu, Khan, Vice President (Finance) Mijanur Rahman Vice President Shehab Udduza Chowdhury and Directors Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Nafis-Ud-Doula, Fahima Akhter, Rumana Rashid, and Mohammed Sohel were also present during the meeting.
