German brand KiK’s Head of CSR calls on BGMEA President

Desk Report: Recently KiK through BGMEA donated to purchase COVID-19 vaccines for garment workers in Bangladesh. The donation came as a part of the KiK’s social responsibility as a long-standing partner of the garment industry in Bangladesh. BGMEA President Faruque Hassan thanked KiK for the financial donation for the garment workers of Bangladesh and hoped it would inspire other brands to follow the suit.

Ansgar Lohmann, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, KiK Textilie and Non-Food GmbH, along with Social Compliance Manager Nadine Reifenrath paid a courtesy call on Faruque Hassan, President of BGMEA at the latter’s office in Gulshan, Dhaka on January 19. BGMEA Vice Presidents Shahidullah Azim and Miran Ali, and former Director Ashikur Rahman (Tuhin) were also present at the meeting.

They had productive discussions regarding a wide ranging scope of issues including how KiK could widen its business in Bangladesh and strengthen relationship with Bangladeshi suppliers. During their discussions, Faruque Hassan requested KiK to support and collaborate with their suppliers in Bangladesh to build their capacities in manufacturing apparel products having higher market demand. He also assured the German brand of all-out support from BGMEA to expand its suppliers’ base and sourcing volume in Bangladesh.
