Two concerns of Ha-Meem Group, namely ‘Refat Garments Limited’ and ‘Times Media Limited,’ have received the Best Taxpayer Award in Bangladesh for the year 2022-2023. This recognition is a testament to their significant contributions to the national economy through tax payments.
The award ceremony, held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), was attended by NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, who presented the awards to the recipients. Sajid Azad, the Director of Ha-Meem Group, received the award on behalf of ‘Refat Garments Limited’ and ‘Times Media Limited.’
The event also featured Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Secretary of Finance Division, as the special guest. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) honored a total of 141 top taxpayers during the ceremony. Among them, 76 individuals, 54 companies, and 11 others were recognized for their significant contributions to tax payments in the fiscal year 2022-2023.
Ha-Meem Group, being one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh’s textile and garments sector, owns various enterprises, including garments factories, a sweater factory, poly bag industry, label factory, jute mill, chemical formulation plant, tea estates, a transport company, and media outlets such as Channel 24 and Samakal, a widely circulated national daily newspaper. This diverse portfolio reflects the group’s substantial presence and impact across multiple industries in the country.
