The Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) is proud to announce a remarkable milestone for Bangladesh’s buying house sector.
In light of the Hon’ble High Court Division’s order on a Writ Petition, and considering the directives of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, it has been decided that submission of a certified copy of membership from the relevant trade organization is mandatory for obtaining registration from the Department of Textiles.
Importantly, the directive clearly recognizes the Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) as the designated trade body for this purpose.
It is noteworthy that, according to a 2022 directive, the requirement to submit BGBA membership certification for Department of Textiles registration has been withdrawn. However, following the Hon’ble Court’s order, this requirement has now been fully reinstated, ensuring proper industry structure, transparency, and accountability.
This decision marks a significant achievement for BGBA, strengthening its institutional recognition and reinforcing its role as the central representative body of the buying house sector in Bangladesh.
