Representing BGMEA at the meeting, Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan shared an overview of the current situation of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry in general and the existing UNICEF collaborations and projects that have been successfully integrated within the RMG factories in the country. She further stressed that UNICEF should now expand their work into areas of raising awareness within the children and youth population about abuse (particularly sexual) and focus on worker related community education or healthcare facilities.

The meeting participants engaged in an in-depth discussion covering a broad range of issues including the macroeconomic outlook, investment climate, regulatory and capital-market developments, CSR and ESG trends, skills and talent development, climate resilience priorities, and the role of businesses in emergency response.

Among others, Ms. Rana Flowers, Representative of UNICEF Bangladesh, along with BTMA President, the President of MCCI and others also attended the meeting.
