Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Idcol) has officially executed a financing agreement with MS Dyeing, Printing & Finishing Ltd (MSDPFL) to fund the deployment of a 5.85 MWp rooftop solar power system. The project spans 13 industrial rooftops at the BSCIC Industrial Estate in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Once operational, the installation is projected to generate approximately 6.3 GWh of clean energy annually, eliminating roughly 3,900 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
In addition to capital financing, Idcol will supply technical guidance and long-term performance monitoring to optimize energy efficiency and lower MSDPFL’s reliance on the traditional power grid.The agreement was signed at Idcol’s headquarters in Dhaka.
SM Monirul Islam, acting managing director of Idcol, and Md Mamunur Rashid, managing director of MSDPFL, signed on behalf of their respective companies.
The ceremony was attended by key industry figures, including Mohammad Hatem, president of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), along with senior leadership from both organizations:
Idcol leadership present included Nazmul Haque, chief investment officer, Md Enamul Karim Pavel, head of renewable energy, Mohammed Jabed Emran, chief risk officer, M Maftun Ahmed, company secretary, and Md Serajul Hossain, senior vice president, renewable energy.
SM Monirul Islam, acting managing director of Idcol highlighted the scalability of industrial rooftop solar in Bangladesh, reaffirming Idcol’s focus on mobilizing private-sector capital for clean energy initiatives.
Mohammad Hatem, president of BKMEA, commended the venture as a crucial shift toward sustainable manufacturing, noting that adopting green infrastructure directly enhances the global competitiveness and long-term viability of Bangladesh’s textile and apparel sector.
Md Mamunur Rashid, managing director of MSDPFL, emphasized that integrating renewable energy into their facility directly improves operational efficiency while advancing their commitment to environmental stewardship.
This installation aligns with Bangladesh’s climate and renewable energy targets outlined in its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).
Having already financed 300 MWp of rooftop solar projects to date, IDCOL remains on track toward its broader goal of funding 1,200 MWp of industrial solar power by 2030.
