Idea and Innovation Fair at BUTex

Textile Engineering Management Department of Bangladesh University of Textile (BUTex) has organized “Idea & Innovation Fair- Season 01” at Bangladesh University of Textiles auditorium on 6th May 2019 (Sunday), sponsored by “Best Corporation” & media partnered by “Textile Focus”.

Vice-Chancellor of BUTex Prof Md. Abul Kashem was the chief guest of the program. Managing Director of Best Corporation, Md. Sazedur Rahman was the special guest. Besides, Registrar of BUTex Prof Dr. Monirul Islam, Dean of the faculty of Textile Management and Business Studies Prof Dr. Mohammad Ali, Assistant Prof. of Department of Dyes & Chemical Engineering of BUTex, Dr.  Abbas Uddin Shiyak were also present in this program.

Maeen Md. Khairul Akter (Lecturer, Textile Engineering Management Department of BUTex) who was the Coordinator of the “Idea & Innovation Fair”, represented a key-note highlighting the importance of innovation for the development of textile industry of Bangladesh.

Encouraging the young researchers, Prof. Md. Abul Kashem, Vice-Chancellor of BUTex, mentioned, “Two things are most important for doing research: Dedication & Thinking Capability” He added, “Each year, BUTex gets funds for doing researches. But unfortunately it has to refund maximum of that.”

Inviting the PhD holders teacher for research, Registrar Prof Dr. Monirul Islam said “To exist in this highly competitive world, there is no other way than innovation. In developed countries, 97% of their researches are industry based, where there is no enough facility in Bangladesh.”

Thanking and encouraging the participators & the organizers, Prof Dr. Mohammad Ali, Dean of the faculty of Textile Management and Businesd Studies, said “We want more & more participation of our students in such programs.”

Thanking the organizing team Dr. Abbas Uddin Shiyak, Assistant Prof of Department of Dyes & Chemical Engineering of BUTex, said, “We always keep saying to our students do this, do that. But we don’t show them the proper way.”

Managing Director of Best Corporation Md. Sazedur Rahman said, “We face different difficulties in industrial life. If the teachers and the students think & work about these problems, we can find the solution of these problems.”

In this program total 21 projects were displayed in 2 categories: Prototype & Poster Presentation. Tanvir Hossain was the champion of Prototype project. His project was about Producing Eco-Starch bag from poly-seccharide which can be used as an alternative of poly-bag and is also eco-friendly.  Riasat Zaman was the champion of Poster Presentation segment. His presentation was about Manufacturing Viscose Rayon from different cotton based garment wastage. There were some other projects like Producing fire protected garments for blind people, Re-using textile wastages for fast fashion, Stabilizing the nano-particles on textile surface, Design development from natural sources, Producing diesel from animal fat, Developed dress for fire-fighters and so on.
