Interloop has reaffirmed its leadership in responsible manufacturing with outstanding performance on the Higg Index, an internationally recognised standard developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, evaluating environmental impact and sustainability practices across production facilities.

Higg Index

The Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) 4.0 scores for Interloop’s facilities have significantly exceeded the global industry average of 43.44:

  1. Hosiery Plants 1, 2 and 4: 76
  2. Hosiery Plant 3: 74
  3. Denim Plant: 69.4
  4. Apparel Park (Hosiery Plant 5 and Apparel Plant 2): 73

These scores focus on critical areas including water use, waste management, chemical handling, and energy consumption. By excelling in these categories, Interloop demonstrates its holistic approach to sustainability, minimising environmental impact across its operations.

“Our progress in sustainable manufacturing reflects our strategic investments in water management systems, waste reduction programmes, and our use of green energy,” said Faryal Sadiq, Chief Marketing Officer at Interloop. “Our goal is not only to meet industry standards but also to set new benchmarks for environmental responsibility.”

Key initiatives contributing to Interloop’s environmental performance:

  1. Water Management: Implementation of advanced water recycling and treatment systems to significantly reduce freshwater consumption.
  2. Waste Reduction: Comprehensive recycling programmes and waste mapping to minimise waste across the value chain.
  3. Chemical Safety: Rigorous protocols for safe chemical handling and storage, protecting workers and the environment.
  4. Energy Efficiency: Investments in energy-efficient technology and increased use of renewables to reduce carbon footprint.

Interloop remains committed to continuous improvement, evaluating sustainability progress and transparently communicating with partners. The company has made significant strides in reducing its carbon footprint, launching innovative eco-friendly products, and collaborating across its value chain to drive industry-wide change. As consumer demand for sustainability rises, Interloop’s achievements position it as a preferred partner, proving that high-volume manufacturing can indeed align with environmental responsibility.
