A seminar on “Future Scope of All-Over-Printing in Bangladesh” was organized by the ISU Textile Club on June 4, 2024, at the ISU Auditorium, International Standard University, Mohakhali, Dhaka. The event featured distinguished Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Abdul Awal Khan, Vice-Chancellor of ISU. Faculty members and students from the Department of Textile Engineering also attended. The magazine partner of the event was Textile Focus.
Bangladesh, renowned for its vibrant textile industry, has made significant strides in all-over printing. This technique covers entire fabrics with intricate designs or patterns, resulting in visually appealing garments and accessories. Bangladeshi artisans skillfully blend traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology to create impressive all-over prints that captivate global audiences.
The General Secretary, ISU Textile Club Md. Shakil Hossain, welcomed attendees to the seminar. He expressed special appreciation for the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor of ISU Prof. Dr. Abdul Awal Khan, for his ongoing support of educational activities. The event also featured the Honorable Special Guest Treasurer (in-charge) of ISU H.T.M. Quader Newaz and the keynote speaker Md. Shawkat Hossain Sohel, Chief Designer of Unifill Composite Dyeing Mills Ltd. He also expressed special appreciation for the Chairperson of the textile department, Prof. Engr. Md. Abdul Based Miah, for his guidance in making the program a success. The seminar aimed to provide valuable insights and learning opportunities for students.
The Vice-Chancellor of ISU stated, “Textile engineering has a remarkable history from the industrial revolution to the present day. From birth to death, the significance of textiles is undeniable. To foster and enhance textile engineering, proactive measures are essential.” He also motivated the ISU Textile Club to host more seminars and workshops for textile students and highlighted that the 4IR will offer even greater benefits to the textile industry in the future.
The Chairperson of DTE Prof. Engr. Md. Abdul Based Miah inspired the students for their interest and offered advice on the benefits of gaining practical insights from industry experts through seminars. He also encouraged the club to organize more such seminars and workshops for textile students to enhance their learning experience.
The wonderful session was conducted by the keynote speaker, Md. Shawkat Hossain Sohel. He demonstrated various types of textile printing on garments and explained the need for different printing processes based on factors such as finishing, cost, and buyer requirements. To illustrate his points, he provided different types of printed fabric swatches for identification. The response from the audience, primarily textile engineering students, was highly positive.
Following the session, the Chairperson of DTE presented a crest to the keynote speaker. After a photo session, the successful seminar concluded.
