Expotextil, the premier trade fair for the textile and clothing industry in Peru, will take place in Lima from November 7 to 10. A delegation of Italian textile machinery manufacturers will participate, showcasing 14 companies within the pavilion organized by the Italian Trade Agency and ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers. Notable exhibitors include ACIMIT members such as Color Service, Danti, Dettin, MS Printing Solutions, Ferraro, Elainox, Ima, Salvadè, Santoni, Ugolini, and Willy.

The textile and clothing sector is a vital part of Peru’s economy, with the country being the world’s largest producer of alpaca fibers, contributing over 80% of global supply. Additionally, cotton cultivation, particularly in the northern regions, plays a significant role. In 2023, Peru’s textile and clothing exports reached USD 1.87 billion, reflecting a 19.6% increase from the previous year.
Marco Salvadè, president of ACIMIT, stated, “The presence of Italian companies at Expotextil is crucial for the much-needed technological renewal of the Peruvian textile industry. To remain competitive, local businesses must upgrade their machinery and enhance their production quality. Italian technology provides effective, resource-efficient solutions for these needs.”
Over the years, the Peruvian textile sector has greatly benefited from collaborations with Italian manufacturers. Peru ranks as the second-largest market in South America for Italian textile machinery, with exports valued at approximately 18 million euros in 2023. In the first half of 2024, Italian sales to Peru reached around 8 million euros.
