A delegation of The Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET) Bangladesh held a meeting with the Managing Director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited on Monday, September 14, 2026, to discuss the ongoing severe gas crisis, low gas pressure, and its growing impact on the countryβs textile and industrial sectors.

Led by ITET Bangladesh President Engineer Mohammad Enayet Hossain, the delegation presented the ground realities of the gas crisis currently affecting textile mills and other industrial establishments across the country. The delegation highlighted that inadequate gas pressure is severely disrupting production, increasing operational costs, and putting many industrial units at risk of temporary or permanent closure.
The delegation strongly urged Titas Gas to take immediate and effective measures to raise gas pressure to the required level in textile and other industrial areas. They called for urgent intervention and practical initiatives from the gas distribution authority to address the situation.
During the meeting, the delegation also emphasized that prolonged gas shortages in the textile and related industrial sectors could have serious consequences not only for production and exports but also for employment, workersβ livelihoods, investment, foreign exchange earnings, and the overall industrial economy of Bangladesh.

They warned that if industrial establishments continue to face inadequate gas supply and pressure, a growing number of factories could be forced to suspend operations, creating significant social and economic consequences.
ITET Senior Vice President Engineer Sumayel Mohammad Mallik, former Secretary General Engineer A.K.M. Mohsin Ahmed, Vice President Engineer Mia Md. Mainul Islam Palash, Joint Secretary General Engineer Rezaul Karim Reza, Treasurer Engineer Zahidur Rahman (Anis), Organizing Secretary Engineer Md.
