Japanese delegation calls on BGMEA President

A high-level government delegation from Japan, led by YODA Gaku, Deputy Director General for Trade, Economic Cooperation, and Export of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Products at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan, met with BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan yesterday.

The meeting focused on the proposed Japan-Bangladesh Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations.

Describing Japan as a long-standing and valued development partner, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan urged the Japanese delegation to consider continuing duty-free market access for Bangladesh for a five-year transition period following the country’s graduation from LDC status. He also requested flexibility in the rules of origin to support Bangladesh’s export competitiveness.

BGMEA Vice President Mijanur Rahman and other board directors were also present at the meeting.
