Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh based one of the sustainable ready made garments manufacturer and exporter, KA Design Ltd sister concern of Fortis Group is recognized as ‘LEED Platinum’ rated green factory with 82 scores by the U.S. Green Building Council.(USGBC).

The 428.22 kWp project implemented on the rooftop of K A Design Ltd, The rooftop solar project is a part of the on-going green initiatives of FORTIS group to use more environment friendly technology and become less dependent on grid electricity by using renewable energy sources.
Asif Hossain, Lead Engineer, Consulting Team in BD office , Conserve Consultant Pvt Ltd hosted the LEED Platinum Celebration ceremony on 22 December at factory head office in the capital. Due to the pandemic situation US Green Building Council (USGBC) and Conserve Consultant Pvt Ltd high officials team attended virtually.
On behalf of USGBC (US Green Building Council), Asif Hossain, Conserve Consultant handed over the Green Building “LEED Platinum Certificate to Shahadat Hossan, Managing Director, Fortis Group. Rina Shahadat, Director of ,Fortis Group were present at the celebration ceremony .
Santanu Dutta Gupta, Regional head USGBC-GBCI (east India, Bangladesh and Vietnam markets) said, his speech, Its a very big achievement for Bangladesh .Bangladesh is a important market for USGBC-GBCI
He shared his presentation ,Bangladesh has the highest number of green garment factories in the world. Recently Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has been honored with the 2021 USGBC Leadership Award for its exemplary leadership in developing Bangladesh as the home of the highest number of green garment factories in the world.
After unfortunate incident of Rana plaza many buyers left order from Bangladesh, but now many top buyers moving in Bangladesh due to huge progress of sustainable development of RMG, said, Santanu Dutta.
He also said, Media is a very important role in promoting green practices in Bangladesh and abroad. Besides, the Bangladesh govt awarded 15 RMG LEED certified green factories on behalf of their determination and contribution to saving the environment and creating occupation,he added

Green is part of sustainability especially for our upcoming generation’s livelihood. The Bangladesh government has tried to support green clothing makers. Our global buyers should pay the right price for green initiative, added Mr.Shahadat.
