Textile Focus: Could you please share us the current scenario of RMG Sector?

Iftekhar Ullah Khan: As we emerge from the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic our RMG sector is facing new hurdles that threaten its competitiveness and growth. The pandemic disrupted global supply chains, reduced demand, and led to factory shutdowns.

One of the most significant challenges we face is the ongoing energy crisis. Insufficient and unreliable electricity supply hampers production efficiency and increases operational costs. To remain competitive in the global trade it is imperative that the government prioritizes investment in sustainable energy solutions. This includes expanding renewable energy projects and upgrading our grid infrastructure, and ensuring a steady supply of power to our industrial zones.

Rising production costs are another critical issue that makes the RMG sector tough to survive. While low labor costs have historically given us an edge but increasing costs of raw materials, logistics, and compliance with international standards are eroding our margins. It is essential that we focus on improving productivity through technological advancements, skill development, and better management practices. The government can support this by providing subsidies for modern machinery and facilitating training programs for our workforce.

We must also acknowledge the growing competition from countries like Turkey and China. These nations are not only advancing technologically but are also benefiting from strong government support. To compete effectively, we need a comprehensive strategy that includes diversifying our product range with focusing on value addition, and exploring new markets. Enhancing our branding and marketing efforts globally will also help establish Bangladesh as a leader in quality and innovation.

Textile Focus: Could you please share with us that what plan Kleider Sourcing has to increase business in Bangladesh?

Textile Focus: How do you see the Bangladesh market and Challenges?

Iftekhar Ullah Khan: As many of you are aware that the RMG sector in Bangladesh has been significantly impacted by the ongoing energy crisis and rising production costs. These challenges have forced many factories to reduce their capacity, affecting not only the businesses themselves but also the livelihoods of countless workers and their families.

As many of you know, our operations have been significantly impacted by the current energy crisis and rising costs in Bangladesh. Currently, we are proud to be working with 26 Ready-Made Garment (RMG) factories. These partnerships have been essential in maintaining our supply chain and ensuring that we continue to deliver quality products to our valued customers.

However, we are not stopping here. Our vision is ambitious. We plan to expand our operations to collaborate with 50 RMG factories. This expansion is not just about scaling up; it is about creating more job opportunities and fostering economic growth within the communities we operate in. By increasing our factory partnerships in the Bangladesh RMG sector, we aim to make a significant contribution to reduce unemployment and uplifting the local economy.

We are also committed to innovation and excellence in design by robust and dynamic design team. Our goal is to not only meet the expectations of our big retail partners but to exceed them. By enhancing our design capabilities, we can offer more diverse and high-quality products, staying ahead in the competitive market.
