Leading German textile certifier Hohenstein launches new laboratory in Bangladesh

Hohenstein Institute, a leading accredited German certification provider, has launched two labs in Dhaka and Chattagram to offer a wide range of analytical textile texting procedures to serve the customers with accustomed service and quality. Hohenstein will offer a wide range of chemical and textile technology testing and result analysis for textile manufacturers, brands and retailers including testing for harmful substances, performance tests, quality controls and inspections.

The institute president, Professor Stefan Mecheels, made the announcement at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in the capital on July 28, 2018. Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee for the jute and textiles ministry; Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Siddiqur Rahman, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association; Atiqul Islam, President, Center of Excellence for Bangladesh Apparel Industry; Michael Schultheiss, chargé d’affaires of German embassy; and Naser EzazBijoy, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, Engr. Shafiqur Rahman, President, The Institution of Textile Engineers & Technologists (ITET) were present on this occasion.

Hohenstein’s current capacity in Bangladesh allows delivering services to 100 companies a year and testing 2,000 samples a day. It has around 1,000 employees in more than 40 branches and contact offices world wide. Hohenstein provides consulting and research and development, applies internationally recognized standards to ensure transparency in performance tests, quality controls and inspections for textile manufacturers, brands and retailers.Services include analytical testing, tests for harmful substances, preparation of expert reports in case of damage, physical testing for colour fastness, pilling, fineness of fibers, determination of fiber composition and behavior measurement during care processes. Textile professionals from different industry mentioned that launching of such world class laboratory will add value to our textile industry.
