LEED to Leading: Turning DPP Compliance into a Competitive Edge for Bangladesh’s RMG Industry

Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan, Vice President of BGMEA, attended a roundtable titled “LEED to Leading: Turning DPP Compliance into a Competitive Edge for Bangladesh’s RMG Industry” as a distinguished panelist.

The session was organized by CED-BRAC University in collaboration with Miceliodata at Hotel Sheraton Dhaka on 28 April.

She noted that the Digital Product Passport (DPP) is an EU requirement that Bangladeshi garment factories must prepare for by strengthening systems, skills, and data capabilities. She highlighted the ongoing DPP pilot initiatives in Bangladesh, supported by BGMEA, to help build industry readiness.

Emphasizing that DPP compliance is driven by European regulations, she stressed that brands must take greater financial responsibility. Implementing DPP requires significant investment, yet brands continue to push for lower costs while increasing compliance expectations—an imbalance she described as unsustainable.

She underscored that DPP should be treated as a shared responsibility, with brands taking the lead in financing, long-term commitment, and enabling the transition for manufacturers.

Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, attended the session as the Chief Guest, and Mohammad Hasan Arif, Vice Chairman, EPB, as the Special Guest.
