The Institution of Textile Engineers & Technologists (ITET), Bangladesh, officially inaugurated the Macrotex–ITET Indoor Tournament 2026 at a grand ceremony held on Friday evening at the ITET Office. The event brought together prominent textile industry professionals and ITET leaders, marking the start of an initiative to promote sports, fellowship, and professional networking among textile engineers and technologists.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Engr. Abdus Sobhan, CIP, Managing Director of AUKO-TEX Group and President of the Bangladesh Karate Federation, as the Chief Guest. Engr. Md. Shamim-ur-Rahman, Managing Director of Macrotex Chemicals Co. Ltd. and Title Sponsor of the Macrotex–ITET Indoor Tournament 2026, attended as the Special Guest, while Engr. Md. Enayet Hossain, President of ITET, chaired the ceremony.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a welcome address from Engr. Mohammad Shahinul Haque, Convener of the Organizing Sub-Committee. Engr. A. S. M. Hafizur Rahman Nixon, Secretary General, ITET, delivered an address, followed by speeches from Special Guest Engr. Md. Shamim-ur-Rahman, Chief Guest Engr. Abdus Sobhan, CIP, and ITET President Engr. Md. Enayet Hossain. Engr. Sumayel Mohammad Mallick, Senior Vice President, ITET, delivered the vote of thanks.
The official inauguration of the tournament was marked by a cake-cutting ceremony involving the Chief Guest, Special Guest, ITET President, office bearers, and Executive Committee members. Engr. A. S. M. Ashik Istiaq (Likhon), Sports & Cultural Secretary, ITET, and Engr. Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Secretary, Sports & Cultural Secretariat, ITET.
An organizing team is coordinating the tournament, comprising Engr. Mohammad Shahinul Haque as Convener, Engr. A. S. M. Asik Istiaq (Likhon) as Member Secretary, and Engr. Abdullah Al Mamun as Joint Member Secretary. Through the Macrotex–ITET Indoor Tournament 2026, ITET aims to strengthen camaraderie, promote a healthy lifestyle, and create opportunities for interaction among professionals within the textile and technology community.
