Mecha Tex 2.0 – Innovation in Apparel Successfully Concludes at RTEC

The auditorium of 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐩𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 ( 𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐂) transformed into a vibrant hub of ideas and innovation as the 𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐂 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 successfully organized 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐱 2.0 – 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥. The event brought together students, faculty members, industry experts, and invited guests under one platform to celebrate research-driven creativity in the textile and apparel sector.

The program formally commenced with the gracious seating of respected judges and guests, followed by a warm and well-articulated welcome speech from Club President Md Zubaer Jisan. He highlighted the vision behind MechaTex 2.0, emphasizing the importance of research, interdisciplinary thinking, and innovation in shaping the future of the textile industry in Bangladesh and beyond.
One of the most engaging segments of the event was the 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫, organized in collaboration with 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥. This exhibition area attracted significant attention from the judges and participants alike, showcasing experimental fabric developments, textile concepts, and applied innovations. The segment served as a bridge between theoretical research and practical textile applications, reinforcing the event’s core theme of “𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥”.

The academic intensity of the program was further elevated during the Review Article Poster Presentation segment. Five finalist teams— 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐨 𝐓𝐞𝐱, 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐖𝐞𝐟𝐭, 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐏𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐐𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐨 —presented their research work through visually structured posters. The judges engaged each team in a detailed questioning session, evaluating their understanding, originality, analytical depth, and applicability of ideas. This was followed by the Final Pitching Round, where each team delivered a concise four-minute presentation, demonstrating both clarity of thought and confidence in communication.

The evaluation panel consisted of distinguished experts from academia and industry, including Md. Shofikul Islam, Lecturer (Fashion & Design), RTEC; Engr. Mahmudul Hasan, Lecturer (Technical), RTEC and Moderator of RTEC Research Club; Md. Jakaria Alom Jiku, Chief Executive Officer of Online Textile School; and Prof. Dr. Md. Emdad Sarkar, Head of the Department of Fabric Engineering at Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX). Their presence significantly enriched the credibility and depth of the evaluation process.

As a gesture of appreciation, tokens of honor were presented to judges, sponsors, partners, volunteers, executive members, and the organizing committee. This segment reflected the collective effort behind the successful execution of the program.

The most anticipated moment of the day arrived with the announcement of results. In the Review Article Writing category, 𝐌𝐬𝐭. 𝐑𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐭, secured the championship title, while 𝐓𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐛 , achieved the runner-up position. In the Poster Presentation category, Team 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐨 𝐓𝐞𝐱 emerged as champions, 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐨 secured 1st runner-up, and 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐏𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 finished as 2nd runner-up. The winners were awarded trophies and certificates amidst applause and appreciation from the audience.
The closing segment of the program was marked by heartfelt speeches from Vice President 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚 𝐓𝐮𝐳 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐎𝐫𝐧𝐢 and 𝐈𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐪𝐮𝐞 of the RTEC Research Club. Their remarks reflected gratitude toward all participants and emphasized the importance of continuing such research-driven initiatives in the future. The event concluded on an inspiring note with a concluding declaration, followed by a group photo session that captured the spirit of collaboration and achievement.

Overall, MechaTex 2.0 stood as more than just a competition—it became a platform of ideas, innovation, and academic excellence, reinforcing the growing research culture within RTEC and highlighting the promising future of textile engineering in Bangladesh.
