A panel discussion session on “Bangladesh Leather Industry- How to move forward!” held in International Convention City Bashundhara, Dhaka on 27th July 2018 during 4th Bangladesh Leather & Footwear Expo 2018. Leather industry experts exchanges their experiences in an open discussion. The session was coordinated by M A Islam Riyadh, Editor, Textile Focus and conducted by Afzal Hossain, Vice President, Leather Engineers & Technologists’ Society Bangladesh”. Md. Hedayetullah, Managing Director, FB Footwear Ltd.; Quazi Salahuddin Mahmud, General Manager (Technical), Apex Footwear Ltd.; Abdur Rashid, Business Manager, Consumer and Retail, SGS Bangladesh Limited; Md. Golam Shahnewaz, General Manager (Operation), US-Bangla Products Ltd.; Dr. Md. Abul Hashem, Head of the Department, Department of Leather Engineering, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology; AKM Moshpiqur Rahman, General Secretary, Leather Engineers & Technologists Society Bangladesh. Md. Hedayetullah mentioned, “For development we must have the mindset, based on that we can achieved the target.” Quazi Salauddin Mahmud said that if we don’t focus on our tanner in Saver largely it will be a headache again like Hazaribagh. Md. Golam Shahnewaz emphasized on value addition and smart planning. Abdur Rashid mentioned that SGS is focusing Bangladesh Leather industry and setting up latest facilities for leather industry inspection. Dr. Md. Abul Hashem requested the industry owner to allow 03 months interactive industrial for the graduate students. AKM Moshipiqur Rahman request all leather engineers and professionals to work together for the development of the industry. This is the first time in Bangladesh such open panel discussion on Leather Industry.
