Inamul Haq Khan, Senior Vice President of BGMEA, participated as a distinguished discussant in a focus group discussion titled “Energy Supply and Efficiency in the Industrial Sector of Bangladesh.”

The event, jointly organized by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) and the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM), brought together key stakeholders to discuss the pressing energy crisis impacting Bangladesh’s industrial landscape.
The discussion aimed to generate actionable recommendations for policy reforms to ensure energy security and efficiency within Bangladesh’s industrial sector.
In his address, Inamul Haq Khan highlighted challenges of Bangladesh’s RMG industry, particularly gas shortages, load shedding, and significant fuel price hikes which are severely impacting RMG production and raise costs.
He emphasized the urgent need for concrete, evidence-based policy interventions to enhance industrial resilience and secure a reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy supply. He stressed that without immediate and decisive action on these critical issues, the RMG industry faces an uncertain future.
