Bangladesh textile garments industry has been suffering a lot during this pandemic situation. It has been largely affect order decrease due to COVID-19 outbreak. Last year the industry survived with some good initiatives and government support. As the country is largely affected by second wave of COVID now it’s really very hard time for this industry. Recently BGMEA election has been completed and new BGMEA committee with the leadership of Mr. Faruque Hassan has taken the charge for 2021-2023. Textile Focus has been talking with BGMEA members’ company owners regarding the expectation from the new board. Iqbal Yousuf Shovon, Managing Director, Shovon Group of Companies Ltd. expressed wish to new BGMEA board.
Fair pricing has been a significant and long-standing demand of garments makers. At this moment, raw materials price have been increased up to 60%. On the other hand, most buyers are asking 10-15% price reduction. The new team of BGMEA should take the correct initiative so that makers get their fair prices.
