Nordic Sourcing Limited: Introducing Global Fashion to Bangladesh

Founded in 2022, Nordic Sourcing is a Bangladesh-based apparel sourcing company specializing in connecting global fashion brands with reliable manufacturing partners. Initially focused on the Scandinavian market, the company has steadily expanded its presence into the UK and Australia while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability, transparency, and long-term collaboration. Rather than working with a large number of factories, Nordic Sourcing has built a carefully selected network of trusted manufacturing partners, enabling consistent quality, reliable delivery, and strong customer relationships.

Recently, the Textile Focus team had an insightful conversation with Ahsan Mahmood, CEO of Nordic Sourcing, about the company’s growth journey, its commitment to sustainable and transparent sourcing, evolving global market opportunities, the increasing demand for fashion-focused apparel, and the key challenges and future prospects of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry. A Brief Discussion is given below for our readers.

Textile Focus: How has Nordic Sourcing grown since its establishment?

Nordic Sourcing: We started our journey in 2022 on a relatively small scale. Our primary target market was the Scandinavian region, although we also explored opportunities in other countries. Recently, we have expanded our focus to Australia and the UK as part of our market diversification strategy. We do not frequently change our manufacturing partners. Instead, we prefer to build long-term relationships with a limited number of reliable factories, working closely with them as a liaison office and business partner. Our business philosophy is centered on sustainability, transparency, and long-term collaboration. From the very beginning, we have maintained clear communication and complete transparency with our customers.
Since our establishment in 2022, we have achieved an overall growth rate of around 30% through 2026. We have also received one of the highest supplier evaluation rankings from our customers. Today, we are one of the most trusted sourcing partners for our clients, supported by our reliable factory network. We intentionally work with only a limited number of factories. Before placing orders, we carefully assess each factory’s production capacity and capabilities to ensure they can consistently meet customer expectations.

Textile Focus: What are your future plans?

Nordic Sourcing: Our future strategy is to introduce more fashion-oriented products rather than focusing on basic items. We are not particularly interested in commodity products. Instead, our primary focus is on fashionable, premium apparel, including athleisure, outerwear, and childrenswear. We are concentrating on product categories that many other brands are not actively developing. Our goal is to work with customers who value innovation, design, and premium-quality fashion products.

Textile Focus: What kind of support is needed to do business more effectively in Bangladesh?

Nordic Sourcing: The biggest challenges we see are long lead times, logistics support, and production planning. One of the most common issues among factories is inadequate production planning. Many factories accept more orders than they can realistically handle without properly assessing their ability to deliver shipments on time. As a result, customer satisfaction suffers. A factory may be fully booked during one season but lose repeat business in the next due to delayed deliveries. We have experienced this issue ourselves. Better production planning is essential for building long-term customer relationships.
We are also trying to introduce more medium-volume, small-order, fashion-focused products. However, many factories are still reluctant to move in this direction because they prefer high-volume orders at lower prices. We believe the industry should focus on delivering high-quality products at fair prices. If factories can change their mindset and embrace more value-added, fashion-driven production, Bangladesh will be well-positioned to move to the next level of growth in the global apparel industry.
