Now there is no way but to initiate online education so that learning is continued at least

Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Humaun Kabir, Pro Vice Chancellor, Northern University Bangladesh

humaun-kabirDue to the Covid-19 education institutes are closed down since March 2020. It is becoming a serious issue as students are losing their valuable academic periods waiting for the class/exams to start in a safe environment. However, the pandemic perhaps is not going to finish soon. So, if the education institutes are closed down like this it is a possibility that the industry will fall short of competent candidates and students will lose valuable academic years.

Now there is no way but to initiate online education so that learning is continued at least. Most of the Universities in developed countries have made online infrastructure which ensures every student is connected with the faculty always. Time has come we also adopt such technologies and mechanism to initiate online education at a bigger way. Most importantly, general education certificates will not guarantee employment anymore in near future unless you have the right skills. Even skills should be certified by an appropriate accreditation body. I think Government can even think of a ministry for online education to develop the required infrastructure and ensure seamless internet connection for the users. Teachers’ skill development to conduct online lectures, assessment techniques and feedback methods are essential. Education must be in a combined form of on campus and online version to make it more effective. I hope government will emphasize heavily in this area and take proper steps to make the online education accessible to all.
