The Online Press Meet for the Launching Ceremony of the 7th Textile Research Conference (TRC 2026) was successfully held on Sunday, 18 January 2026, bringing together leading academicians, industry experts, researchers, and members of the media to officially announce one of the most anticipated research-focused events in the textile and apparel sector.

During the press meet, it was officially announced that the 7th Textile Research Conference (TRC 2026) will be held on 31 October 2026 at the campus of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT). The conference will feature a range of academic and creative segments, including two competitive research events the 5 Minutes Research Competition (5MRC) and the Research Poster Competition (RPC)-designed to encourage young researchers and innovators to present their work in engaging and impactful formats. In addition, the event will host a Digital Fashion Catwalk Competition, showcasing the integration of fashion, technology, and digital innovation.
The conference will be jointly organized by the Centre for Research & Innovation in Science, Arts and Technology (CRISAT) and BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), with the aim of fostering innovation, sustainability, and research-driven development within the textile and apparel industry.
The press meet commenced with a welcome address and background presentation by Dr. Sadat Sayem, Founder of CRISAT, who outlined the vision, objectives, and academic significance of TRC 2026. He emphasized the conference’s role in bridging the gap between academia and industry through impactful research and collaboration.
Renowned media professionals including Engr. Md. Atiqur Rahman Atik, Editor of Textile Mirror; Ms. Akhi Akter, Editor of Fashion Business Journai; and Mr. Rahbar Hossain, AGM (Business Development), Textile Today Innovation Hub, shared their insights on the importance of research dissemination and industry-academia synergy.
The event was further enriched by distinguished special guests, including Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean, Faculty of Apparel Studies, BUFT; Engr. Moslem Uddin, Director (Technology), Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI); and Prof. Dr. Engr. A. N. M. Ahmed Ullah, Department of Textile Engineering, Southeast University, who highlighted emerging trends, sustainable innovation, and the future direction of textile research in Bangladesh.
Engr. Ehsanul Karim Kaiser, Convener (Interim Committee), Institution of Textile Engineers & Technology (ITET), underscored the importance of professional collaboration and institutional support for advancing textile engineering and research excellence.
The press meet concluded with an inspiring address by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice Chancellor of BUFT, who officially welcomed the launch of TRC 2026 and reaffirmed BUFT’s commitment to supporting high-quality research, innovation, and global academic engagement.
