Overall Pakistan textile and garment exports climbed 8.85 percent between July and May this fiscal year

pakistan-textilesAccording to figures issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan’s textile and garment exports increased by 19% in the 11 months of the current fiscal year (11MFY21) compared to the same time a year ago. According to a report by Pakistan Today Profit, overall textile and garment exports climbed 8.85 percent to $13.748 billion between July and May this year, compared to $11.567 billion in FY20. Exports grew 41.14 percent on a monthly basis to $1.06 billion in May 2021, compared to the same month the previous year. Ready-made garment exports climbed 14.35 percent to $2.706 billion in 11MFY21, compared to $2.367 billion in the same months last year. Knitwear exports climbed by 32.70 percent to $3.414 billion in the same months previous year, up from $2.572 billion. Bed wear exports grew by 24.60 percent to $2.472 billion. Exports of leather garments climbed by 9.92 percent, while those of leather gloves increased by 19.08 percent in the value-added sector. Cotton textile exports increased by 0.97 percent year over year in the non-value added sector in 11MFY21. Cotton yarn exports, on the other hand, fell by 1.60 percent, while raw cotton exports fell by 96.51 percent.
