Padma Bridge will help the country’s export-oriented industry to reduce lead time-BGMEA President

Desk Report: The opening of Padma Bridge will ease the business and help the country’s export-oriented industry to reduce lead time, said, Faruque Hassan, President, BGMEA . He told at BGMEA press conference on Proposed Budget at hotel Westin in the capital.

The bridge will have a positive impact on the country’s textile and apparel sector, the biggest export earning industry added Faruque Hassan.

BGMEA President also said, Padma bridge will directly connect the Mongla and Benapole ports to Dhaka and Chattogram. Some 19 districts of the south-western region would be connected with the rest of the country.

After opening, it will help the apparel makers, who are manufacturing clothing items in Mongla Export Processing Zone, to transport goods to Chittagong port easily, Faruque Hassan added.

According to the report, experts reckon that Padma Bridge, a dream project of Bangladesh, will transform trade and connectivity significantly, ushering a new era of economic development in the country,

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the bridge on 25 June, fulfilling the decades-long desire of the people, particularly those from the southern districts The public can start using the 6.15-kilometre bridge that will connect the capital with the south-western regions from June 26.

Padma Bridge will play a pivotal role in the development of Bangladesh. Connectivity of south and west part of the country will get stronger to boost economic activities.
