The reports cover three companies in the group-Aswad Composite Mills Ltd., Arkay Knit Dyeing Mills Ltd., and Ayesha Clothing Company Ltd. and follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. The initiative was undertaken through Swisscontact’s Progress Project, with technical support from SGS Bangladesh.

The completed ESG reports were formally handed over to Adnan Imtiaz Majid, Director, Central Management, Palmal Group of Industries, at a recognition ceremony. Marajul Islam, Coordinator, Progress Project, Swisscontact, and Mushfiqur Rabbi Turza, Lead – ESG & Sustainability Services, SGS Bangladesh, presented the reports.

The ceremony was attended by senior representatives of Palmal Group, including Director Lt. Col. Nayeem (Retd.), Director Sohel Faruqee, Sarwar Alam Chowdhury, General Manager, Central Management, and Engr. Md. Saiful Islam, Head of Environmental Sustainability, along with other officials and team members involved in the initiative.

The publication of the ESG reports represents an important step in Palmal Group’s efforts to strengthen its data-driven sustainability performance, transparency, and accountability. By establishing a structured approach to ESG reporting, the group aims to enhance its understanding and management of environmental, social and governance impacts across its operations.

Palmal Group expressed its sincere appreciation to Swisscontact, SGS Bangladesh, and everyone across the group who contributed to the successful completion of this initiative.

The group said the publication of the 2024 ESG Reports is only the beginning of its broader sustainability journey. Palmal Group is now moving towards group-wide ESG reporting, further strengthening its commitment to responsible business practices and sustainable growth.

The initiative reflects the growing importance of transparent ESG practices in Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry and highlights Palmal Group’s continued efforts to advance responsible and sustainable business practices.
