Plastic and Footwear Industry of Bangladesh Prepares for Global Success with EC4J Workshop

The project EC4J initiated by the Ministry of Commerce has recently hosted a workshop titled ‘Bangladesh’s Plastics & Footwear Sector Internalization’ at the After Hours Residence, Banani, Dhaka on 27 February, 2025. The primary objective of EC4J (Export Competitiveness for Jobs) project is to strengthen export market linkages for Plastics & Footwear sectors by showcasing Bangladesh as a credible sourcing destination.

The workshop was presided over by Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Project Director of EC4J Project. While, Sheikh Mohammad Abdur Rahman, Joint Secretary, Deputy Project Director of EC4J Project graced the workshop as chief guest. Other Special guests were Md. Kamruzzaman, Component Coordinator-2, (Productivity Enhancement Program); Aminul Islam, Procurement Specialist and Md. Habibur Rahman, Financial Management Specialist. The event got conducted by Jabed Ahmed, Chief Consultant of CEMS-Global. The workshop was represented by manufacturers and producers of plastic and footwear from Absolute Plastics Ltd., Aman Toy Garden, Mahadi International Ltd., Authentic Accessories Industries Ltd, Smart Polymer Industries Ltd., Tanin Furniture, FM PLASTIC LTD, Otobi Furniture (Furniture Solution), Lira Group, Akij Plastic, Premiaflex Plastics Ltd. (ACI), Plastic Sign, South Asia Treding Plastic, Sumi UPVC Pipe Industries, Npoly, Diplomat Plastic, Xclusive Can Limited, Pran RFL, Shapla Plastic, ALLIANCE LEATHERGOODS & FOOTWEAR LTD, Footmark Footwear, Italy Footwear Limited, Kushum Koli Shoe Factory, Bangla Leather, Mahmud Tex BD, Hermizon Footwear, Smart Shoes, Arcobaleno, Craftsman Footwear, Shoenivers Footwear (Nploy) and Multiline (RFL).The manufacturers and producers discussed and shed light on the challenges and opportunities of their particulars sectors.

Md. Al Amin, Assistant General Manager, CEMS-Global made a power point presentation providing insights of the project along with the briefing of significant contributions of Plastic and footwear sector of Bangladesh and their burgeoning growth in expanding global reach. The presentation also covered the aspects and benefits the exhibitors of the respected field will enjoy.
