Product development exhibitions and RAMP show held at Southeast University

Students of the 06th Batch (Evening), Department of Textile Engineering, Southeast University organized Product development exhibitions and PAMP show at their permanent campus, Dhaka on 28th October 2022. Dr. Syed Atiqur Rahman, Associate Professor, and Chairman of Dept. of Textile Engineering, SEU, inaugurated the exhibition. In this event, 13 groups of 65 students have developed their products (Tops and bottom), the focus area of their products is the reuse of waste materials from garments industries, new cutlines, Different multi wash, Knit & Woven combined Polo shirts with a wash, home textile for casual wear, Gamcha & lungi use for Panjabi etc). The Ramp show 2022 was started by the welcome speech of program supervisor Engr. Md. Eanamul Haque Nizam, Assistant Professor and supervisor, Dept. of Textile Engineering. He thanked all the guests, sponsors, and partners for making the event successfully happen.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, BUFT was present as chief guest. Professor Dr. AFM Meshkat Islam, Advisor, Board of Trustees, SEU was present as guest of honor. Dr. ANM Ahmed Ullah, Associate Professor, Dept. of Textile Engineering was the advisor of the event. Engr. Meer Md. Rasel Khan, Country Manager (Bangladesh), Dymatic Chemicals Inc; Mr. Jason Rubel Das, Sr. Business Manager, Klubhaus, Dekko Isho Group; Md. Arafat Hossain, Managing Director, Raiyana Fashion; President and Secretary of the Southeast Textile Alumni Association (TEAASEU) were present as special guests.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) mentioned, “Annually, we export $42 billion worth of RMG, and foreign employees working in the RMG industry take away approximately $6 billion. To replace the foreigners, we have to be efficient and develop our skills.”

Professor Dr. AFM Meshkat Islam, Advisor, Board of Trustees, SEU said, “We really appreciate such events from our university students. I am glad to see the quality of the presentation. We will inaugurate the new building; hope students will get more scopes for extra curriculum and innovative event engagements.”

Dr. ANM Ahmed Ullah, Associate Professor, Dept. of Textile Engineering, highlighted the importance of innovation and the impact of such events on the career.

Engr. Meer Md Russel Khan, Country Manager (BD), Dymatic Chemicals, Inc, said, “As I had my postgraduate degree from Wuhan Textile University, China I found so many textile graduates for Southeast University are doing good in different Chinese companies after their post-graduation from Wuhan Textile University. Some of them are leading world-reputed companies as well.”

Jason Rubel Das, Sr. Business Manager, Klubhaus Dekko Isho Group said “Fashion retailers, design-oriented textile manufacturers, suppliers, and the creative industry around the world want to recruit creative textile engineers. So, the young generation should be focused on the knowledge of export-oriented merchandising.”

The event was sponsored by the fashion house “Forever Tony.” Ms. Tony expressed her happiness to be a part of this event. She looks forward to working on further developments with the university graduates. Ms. Tony was glad to launch 05 products with 13 models. All the models that participated at the RAMP SHOW were from the 06th batch (evening), Dept. of Textile Engineering, Southeast University.
