Queen Koningin Máxima of the Netherlands Visits Viyellatex Group

Queen Koningin Máxima of the Netherlands Visits Viyellatex Group! On this day 7 years ago the honorable Queen of the Netherlands, as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance, visited our factory in Tongi because we were the first Ready made garments (RMG) company in Bangladesh to have used bKash Limited to disperse workers salaries.

What started as a small project in the Viyellatex cutting floor 7 years ago has blossomed into a platform that has over 5 million transactions per day.

Bkash has become the standard for salary dispersal in the RMG industry. Disbursing salary through mobile financial services (#mfs) is important because it saves the workers from being prey to local area middlemen and ensures that the money goes straight to their accounts.

According to the companies, the Queen was surprised by the candor of the Viyellatex workers she sat with as one worker stated that she loved Bkash because “It stops her husband from taking her cash!”. Due to our chairman’s pioneering thinking, he was recently awarded the “Visionary Leadership Award” just last year. As a company, we are always at the forefront of both progress and sustainability in the garments industry.
