Rag Day of 5th Batch (Aborto-95) of Shahid Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Engineering College, Barisal was observed enormously on 3rd & 4th September 2019, sponsored by M.Khan Ltd and media partnered by Textile Focus. For this program, the whole campus took a festive look with colorful lightings, decoration and alpona around the campus.
Rag festival was inaugurated by the principal of SARSTEC, Engr Md Mozibur Rahman, in the evening of 3rd September. After that, a glorious cultural festival took place at SARSTEC auditorium where the students performed songs, dance, dramas etc enthusiastically and it continued till 10 pm. Principal Engr Md Mozibur Rahman said, “We, teachers, always support the activities of our students and want the best for them.” Lecturer Engr Md Zahid Murad Shuva said, “In our campus, we not only have some to be textile engineers but also some highly efficient multi-talented students.”
The next morning began with distributing the Rag t-shirts among the students sponsored by Associations of SARSTEC Alumni. Then the Rag Rally roamed around Barisal city along with 15 pick-up vans. Teachers were also present then. After the rally, the color festival took place at campus compound where DJ Azim amused the students with his mesmerized music. During the color festival, students of valedictory batch (Aborto – 95) represented a flash move.
In the evening of 4th September a concert took place at SARSTEC auditorium where renowned band Ashes and Cool Fusion (local band) performed. All the students, teachers and staff members highly enjoyed the 2 day long Rag Festival. Before the main program, a Milad Mahfil was arranged on 2nd September after Magrib prayer at campus mosque, praying for auspicious result of the valedictory students.
Md Nabil Chowdhury, student of outgoing batch, said, “All the students have given their best effort to make the program successful and finally they have made a blast at the end. We thought — Let’s make this day OURS as far as we are able.”
“Aborto – 95” tried its best to make their last days at the campus memorable through enjoyment. SARSTEC has confirmed 1st position for cultural segments among the 6 textile engineering colleges (monitored by ministry of Jute & Textile) with the complementary speech of one of the senior faculty. It was indeed a happy ending of an unhappy moment.
