BGMEA Vice President Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan participated as a distinguished panelist at a policy dissemination event titled “Bangladesh Industrial Energy Efficiency Policy”, organized by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and SANEM on 29 November in Dhaka.

In her remarks, she highlighted that renewable energy has become a critical factor for the global fashion industry, particularly in light of UN climate action requirements.
She noted that without achieving renewable energy targets in garment manufacturing, Bangladesh risks losing its competitive edge in the international market. She further pointed out that several neighboring competitors have already made significant strides in renewable energy adoption.

Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan urged the government to make Merchant Power Purchase agreement more competitive and industry-friendly to accelerate the sector’s transition to clean energy.
The discussion was also addressed by DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed, Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission Jalal Ahmed, and Executive Director of SANEM Dr. Selim Raihan.
