RMG exports earned $3.89bn in July, decline of 1.92%

BGMEA Statement on RMG Export Data for July 2026-27

As the new fiscal year 2026-27 begins, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has released export data for the month of July. The figures show that Bangladesh’s RMG exports recorded a slight year-on-year decline of 1.92%, totaling US$ 3.89 billion compared to US$ 3.96 billion in July 2025.

However, it is important to note that July 2025 was an exceptionally strong month, marking the highest single-month export performance in Bangladesh’s RMG history. Against that extraordinary base, the current figure of US$ 3.89 billion represents a welcome start to the new fiscal year.

Product-wise performance reveals that woven garments bore the brunt of the decline, falling by 3.16% year-on-year, while knitwear exports proved more resilient, declining by only 0.90%.

BGMEA’s UD data also shows similar picture as UD value of July 2026 declined by 2.8% compared to July 2025.

This performance comes at a time when the industry is navigating significant challenges—including a severe gas crisis that is constraining production capacity utilization, and ongoing geopolitical uncertainties that continue to disrupt global trade and supply chains.

Despite these headwinds, Bangladesh’s RMG sector has demonstrated resilience, crossing nearly US$ 3.89 billion in a single month.
